A canvased edge is a term related to stropping. A strop is a strip of flexible leather or canvas. It was and still is used to remove burrs from cutting edges of barber razors. Old time Barbers used strops to keep there straight razors sharp enough to shave the hair off all those western gunslingers and city dudes. Some Barbers feel a canvas strop produces a finer edge. A strop helps remove burrs or straighten them out when the edges bend over during use. Cutting edges with no burrs provide a smoother clean cut. The city dudes and gunslingers like it, and the Barber stays healthy
Til next time.
